It is time to renew your license with the Cosmetology Board for 2011-2013
-
The Cosmetology schools, booth renters and salons are currently in renewals. Notices have been mailed out, and licenses will expire June 30, 2012, if not renewed. Please note that the Board's main form of communication with licensees is by e-mail; therefore, it is imperative you let the Board know if your e-mail address changes. There are several ways you can update your e-mail information. You can send updated information to the Board office by using the online comments, Contact Us.

Lapsed licenses are not eligible to reinstate online. You will need to submit a reinstatement application with the appropriate fee in the form of a check or money order as indicated. You can find the reinstatement form under "applications and forms" on this website.

S.C. Cosmetology Board Warns Public, Salon Workers, of Potential Health Threat
-
New regulations for the Board of Cosmetology (Document No. 4075) became final by publication in the South Carolina State Register on June 25, 2010. Regulation 35-1(G) as published requires that each school submit a surety bond in the amount of $50,000 in order to be licensed. THIS AMOUNT IS NOT REQUIRED BY LAW. South Carolina statutes require that a school submit a surety bond in the amount of $10,000 in order to be licensed. A statute cannot be changed by regulation. APPLICATIONS FOR LICENSING OF SCHOOLS MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A BOND IN THE AMOUNT OF $10,000.
Attention LLR Customers
LLR encourages the use of its online licensing services to issue licenses as quickly as possible to our clients. Starting May 15, 2011, a $25 service fee will be instituted for licensing services done in person rather than online.
