SC Builder's Exam Notice
In light of the State's recent adoption of the 2015 International Residential Code, effective July 1, 2016, the South Carolina Residential Builders Commission ("Commission") has reviewed the Residential Builders exam and is modifying it to reflect code changes and updated acceptable building practices. As a result, the Commission finds it necessary to increase the length of the exam from 80 questions to 110 questions, in order to adequately test applicants on current standards and code requirements. As a result of the additional questions, applicants will now be allotted 360 minutes, rather than 240 minutes, to complete the exam. These changes to the Residential Builders exam will take effect on September 1, 2016.
